SRV Junior Development Day #1
Echuca / Moama
Good Morning,
Welcome to the first Ski Racing Victoria National Safe & Security Junior Development Day to be held on Sunday the 18th of November 2012 in Echuca (Sunday after the Barry Beehag ski race).
Firstly the SRV committee would like to welcome our new major sponsor 'National Safe & Security Pty Ltd' on board and thank you for your support helping us welcome new competitors to the sport of water ski racing and support our current members to continue to improve.
With only 7 weeks until our JD day, it's time to get our registrations started for all the skiers who wish to attend and for all our generous helpers out there to put their hand up to assist on the day by either instructing the skiers or bringing a boat along and driving for the day.
SRV Junior Development days are always great fun with all our skiers achieving new personal best starting from getting up on one ski to learning to ski on a plank of wood and a range of marathon ski's. Its also a good opportunity for our new drivers and observers to come along and learn off our experienced drivers, observers and skiers.
The details for our November day are -
Date - Sunday the 18th of November 2012
Time - 9.30am till 4.30pm
Location - All Rivers Run Caravan Park Main Beach (we will launch boats at headworks boat ramp)
Please find attached the registration form and waiver, both documents need to be completed by all skiers who wish to be involved on the day. Please complete the forms and scan and email the forms back to Chelsea Blight at chelseablight@hotmail.com . For all our new Drivers and Observers who wish to attend, please email me your details and I will ensure to place you with an experience team who attend on the day to learn from.
Finally, to all our experienced competitors included in this email, please help our water ski racing family to continue to grow by offering your helping hand for the day, we always require around 8-10 boats, instructors and drivers for the day so please let me know if you are willing to be involved and put a little back into a sport we all get so much enjoyment out of.
I would appreciate if you can forward this email onto anyone you think may not have recieved it and spread the world to your fellow competitors, family and friends. Ski Racing Australia offer a come and try membership for $50 allowing new skiers to come along to our Junior Development days and try out our sport. If you have someone you know who is interested in trying our sport, please give me a call to discuss their options and the 'come and try' membership.
Please feel free to give me a call on 0408357624 if you have any further queries.
Looking forward to hitting the water on the Mighty Murry river for a day of fun in the sun.
Kind Regards,
Chelsea Blight

Tasman Challenge 2013
The Trans Tasman Challenge is a unique competition in the ski racing world. Rather than each boat and skier competing one on one for a race win, in this competition all the teams points are put together to decide the winner.
Each team is made up of 8 skiers - 1 boy and 1 girl from Under 13, Under 16 and Under 19 with a second division chosen by the New Zealand team, which in recent years has been Under 16.
Victoria currently leads the competition with 12 wins to New Zealand 10.
The team this year will be chosen from the best 3 results of the first 4 point scores with the team announced as soon as possible after point score 4. This format of team selection is the same as has been used for the last 3 teams, and we still believe to be the fairest way to pick the team.
At this stage we still don't know the 2nd division age yet but I will be sure to pass on that info as soon as I know for those that are doing calculations.
The Tasman Auction, hosted by the Lake Charm Powerboat Club, is our most important fundraiser of the year enabling Ski Racing Victoria to pay for flights and accommodation for the chosen team members. Please dig deep and contribute in any way you can as these funds continue to be pooled for future Trans Tasman Challenge events.
Tasman Challenge this year will be held at Lake Mulwala.

2013 Grafton Bridge to Bridge
118km’s on the wide expanses of the Clarence River. If you haven’t done it no one will ever be able to truly describe the race to you.
Run over two days, on the Saturday Superclass and Unlimited fight it out for Pole Positions for the Sunday Race. This is done over a simple short course which has the boats blast up one long straight before turning just before the Grafton Bridge and heading back down the other side of the island to finish in front of the crowd.
On Sunday the race begins right under the Balcony of the Crown Hotel where boats are let off two at a time. The first boats away will get clear water all the way to the turnaround boy which is situated just before the bridge at the Pacific Highway. On the way back is where it gets interesting with the skiers having to fight cross washes all the way home it often sets the race up for an exciting finish which happens right at the Crown Hotel. One of the really great spectator races for the whole year with boats starting to finish as the lower classes are still starting there is never a shortage of action. It truly is a gruelling test for anyone who decides to enter.
2013 Barrie Beehag Ski Race
Download entry forms at www.southern80.com.au
The race named in honour of a great of the Moama Water Sports Club Life Member. Barrie served as director, president or treasurer over 19 years. On June 4th 2006 Barrie succumbed to cancer leaving behind him a big legacy. The inaugural Barrie Beehag Ski Race was held on the 18th of November 2006 as a way of honouring the man and his family’s contribution to ski racing and MWSC.
The race is run from Deep Creek Marina on the New South Wales side of the river to Torrumbarry and back. A limited number of classes are run as it traditionally is seen as a big social event to celebrate a great man and a way for ski racing to give something back to the community with money made going to charity.
However none of this stops the action from hotting up on the water with our first visit to Echuca for the year bring out the best in many crews who are desperate to do well on a beautiful part of the river. The race mostly attracts the best Victorian crews however in recent years it has begun attracting some great interstate crews who have very much enjoyed their time at the race
