TASMAN CUP COMES HOME

After an inspiring weekend of racing by our juniors in the Tasman Challenge team Victoria reclaimed the Tasman Cup. With what is believed to be the highest score achieved all competitors put on a great display in the 24th year of the Tasman Challenge. Congratulations to everyone on another fantastic event.

Another fantastic weekend at Lake Charm to finish off the SRV Mercury Marine Point Score Series.

Great racing from start to finish with the running of the first 70 and 60mph 2 up which provided some highlights to finish off the weekend.

Congratulations to all competitors on a great season and don’t forget to get your nominations in for the special awards for Presentation Night on 29th June 2013.

I would like to thank all officials for volunteering their time throughout the season and give a huge thanks to all the helpers who give their time and especially those who come up when extra people are needed. I would also like to thank the group of people who help out every weekend in the tent usually from start to finish every weekend.

Look forward to another great point score series for 2013 to 2014.

Bookings for SRV Presentation Night and End of Season Nominations close on 31st May 2013 so mark it on your calendar so you don’t miss the deadline. Presentation Night times are: 6.30pm – Arrival, 7pm – Start of Formal Presentation, 11pm – Finish

Put some thought into who you would like to nominate for the End of Season Special Awards and get them in:

Geelong World Selection and SRV Grand Prix

A busy time on the ski racing calendar with Round 3 and 4 of the World Selection Races together with SRV Aim Autographics Grand Prix 3 being held at Limeburners Boat Ramp, Corio Bay Geelong on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th April.

With weather conditions looking favourable it should be a great weekend of racing with Selection teams battling for a place on the World’s team and SRV Grand Prix competitors racing for points in the final round of the series.

Breathtesting will be held between 8am and 9am both days with briefing at 8am. If you will be late for breathtesting please email srvsecretary@gmail.com

60 and 70mph competitors at Point Score 5 at Lake Charm on April 14 there will be a 60 and 70mph two up event! This is a trial event with the view to considering adding this to the event schedule for next season. It’s success depends on the level of commitment from you the competitors so make sure you spread the word and get your entries into to srvsecretary@gmail.com by next Wednesday.

Remember only one of your skiers needs to be restricted so no reason why every team cant run this race!
This event will be run time permitting and if it doesnt go ahead all entry fees will be refunded.

2012-13 SRV Aim Autographics Grand Prix Series Entry Form

SRV Aim Autographics Grand Prix 3 change of date

Due to Grand Prix 3 being run in conjunction with World Selection Race 3 and 4 the date has changed to 7th April from the original date on 26th May. Grand Prix competitors will be timed separately from competitors in World Selection events. The same season entry form can be used for Grand Prix 3 entries.

2013 Robinvale Euston Ski Race Results

With the temperature rising perfect conditions greeted competitors for the 2013 Robinvale Euston 80 Ski Race Classic and the records fell but it was Hellrazor who sent the mercury rising on the water with a spectacular run. Team Hellrazor with driver Mark Cranny observer Damien Matthews and skiers Peter Procter and Jason Walmsley set a blistering pace down the course and looked fantastic coming around the last bend and down the straight to cross the finish line.

Congratulations to all competitors who put on a great display of racing from social classes on Saturday morning to the 3 dashes on Saturday afternoon followed by the Veteran;s, Senior Social, Disabled and our youngest competitors Under 10 boys and girls, with most teams doing it all again on Sunday in the expert classes.

It was great to see everyone enjoying the event and we hope to see you all again next year.

Hi Competitors,

Not long now until everyone heads to Robinvale for another great race. Weather looks like being fantastic for the weekend so hopefully everyone has a great race. Everyone should have received their race numbers via email to the Team Captain so if you have not please contact Di at srvsecretary@gmail.com immediately. If you can’t attend briefing on Friday night and need to go to the Saturday morning briefing please email Di at srvsecretary@gmail.com before Friday.

Please download the information sheet below that includes times and places for briefing, breath testing, etc. Also note ALL F2 and SMOC boats must be scrutineered even if you hold an exemption. As per Southern 80 Safety Scrutineering sheet all Rudder Crack Test Certificate (Rule 7.15) post 21/01/2013 is required for all inboards.

SRV and Robinvale Committee are looking for old ski rope to prepare for next year’s race (get organized early) so if any skiers have old ski rope they are not using anymore and would be happy to donate it please bring it to Robinvale and there will be a container at the houseboat for you to put it in.

Another great weekend of racing for Point Score 4 at Kangaroo Lake on the weekend. A bit of wind Saturday gave competitors some choppy water on parts of the course but the age classes took it in their stride and we saw some great racing.

Sunday saw the mercury rise and great conditions on water gave spectators some fabulous racing from the engine classes.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped out over the weekend especially all the girls who help in the tent every weekend of racing and some new recruits who came in and learned the ropes. Great to see Bita and Jake still there at the end of the day as usual helping out.

2013 Tasman Challenge

Due to the possibility of some points being tied a count back system will be used to split the skiers.

The count back will be done on a time difference from the races that both skiers have completed against each other in their class.

We look forward to being able to announce the team at the next point score, sometime in the afternoon if all goes to plan.

Point Score 4 being held at Kangaroo Lake on 23rd & 24th February looks like having great weather which should ensure some great racing.

Lake Charm General Store will have a fresh delivery of 98 Octane fuel on Thursday night ready for the weekend.

Kangaroo Lake Caravan Park will be catering for us over the weekend and will have food available Saturday night. They will also have fuel available over the weekend.

If you need a late breath testing please make sure you contact srvsecretary@gmail.com, there will be no late breath testing unless organized before the weekend.

Congratulations to the incredible team of Hellrazor – Mark Cranny, Damien Matthews, Peter Proctor, Jason Walmsley who have won the 2013 Southern 80 in a time of 30:36.84. The team are proving to be a formidable force on the water again this season.
