What a weekend it was at Kangaroo Lake. Earlier in the week the weather looked perfect for a great weekend – what a difference a few days can make. Saturday morning started with high winds then came the rain, hail, thunder and lightening so racing was called off for safety reasons, both on water and off with the tents almost becoming airborne. Thanks to everyone who held them down while equipment was packed up and the tents dropped for the day. The sun finally showed itself before lunch but the wind remained.
Thankfully Sunday saw sunshine and a slight breeze so Sunday’s racing commenced with some great racing for those who stuck around. Was great to see three generations of the Henderson family with Jan Hendo there watching kids and grandkids on the water. After waiting 4 races Curtis Carne hit the water with huge cheers from the bank as he finished his race – thanks to Tim Everist and the Velocity Racing team for making it happen.
Thanks to 2 Girls 1 Truck Coffee for being there over the weekend and Shaun Atkins Sports Therapist for coming back on Sunday. Thanks to the Kangaroo Lake Caravan Park for catering all weekend and putting on a spit roast Saturday Night, was great to see so many turn up and show their support.
A huge thank you to Greg Wheeler and Kirky who always stick around at the end of racing on Sunday to help pack up and do whatever they can to make sure we get away at a reasonable time. Thanks also to Jeecinta Lightbody for filling in on the GPS table and the whole Lightbody family for help packing up.
